Here’s the roadmap:
- Finish off the Grav plugin series.
- Do a small Grav customization project for a friend of mine.
- Move away from Grav to a static site generator.
For the last several months, I’ve been writing locally and transferring content to a server via SCP, which largely defeats the purpose of having a server-side CMS in place. I’ve learned what I’d hoped to about Linux administration and nginx configuration over the last 10 years or so; I’ve no objections to PHP, but it’s separate enough from what I’m doing in my day job and for the great majority of my side gig that there’s just enough cognitive friction to make me want to use a different toolset for this site.
Not sure what yet: Static binary like Hugo or Zola? Something Python-based, just to keep up my Python skills? 11ty? Something React-, Vue-, or Svelte-based? Probably a platform that supports Twig-like (i.e., Twig itself, Nunjucks, or Jinja) templates to reduce the work of porting this theme, which I’m generally pretty happy with.
